ABOUT ME

My name is Josef Hoffert, I am originally from Karlskrona in southern Sweden, but I currently live in Malmö with my two former irish street dogs. My main background lies in production, and as project lead of events as an Event Coordinator, but I am now looking to refocus my efforts and I have my sights set for the gaming industry.

I have been working in Unity 2018.x and 2019.x and coding in C# using Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code since the beginning of October 2018. During this time I’ve completed two whole certificates in Unity and C# game design, and working on a third. While doing this I have also been studying Game Design at Folkhögskolorna Skurup and Fridhem in Malmö, from which I will graduate in May 2018.

At the moment I am also in the beginning of learning how to design my own 3D graphics using Blender 2.8.

CERTIFICATES

CERTIFICATE #1 – RPG CORE COMBAT CREATOR

This is the first Unity Course by Gamedev.TV on Udemy that I completed. It is a 42 hour long introduction to intermediate C# and using Unity to create the basics of a 3D Action RPG. It taught me how to create core combat mechanics for melee, ranged and special attacks, more advanced C# techniques such as interfaces, delegates and co-routines and how to create pathfinding systems and patrol paths for enemies and NPCs. I also made detailed levels in Unity with terrain, enemies, triggers, lighting, particles and props.

CERTIFICATE #2 – C# UNITY DEVELOPER 3D

The second of Gamedev.TVs Unity courses on Udemy that I finished (Although it should be noted that I started this one before the RPG course). This one taught me the basics of C# from scratch, and also gave me a lot of experience in Unity. The focus was on making 3D games and also included tips and tricks on how to best edit your code, refactoring, game design and lots of practical excercises to help me learn good coding and design patterns. All in all the course is 26.5 hours long, but taking into account things like pausing to reflect, personal challenges and design decisions the course is in reality a lot longer.

CERTIFICATE #3 – C# UNITY DEVELOPER 2D

The third of Gamedev.TVs Unity courses on Udemy that I have finished so far. (Although, I keep being a fan of doing them out of order. This is the first one I started!). This one also taught me the basics of C# from scratch, as well as even more experience in working in Unity. The focus was on making 2D games and, stop me if you’ve heard this before, also included tips and tricks on how to best edit your code, refactoring, game design and lots of practical excercises to help me learn good coding and design patterns. All in all the course is 35 hours long, but taking into account things like pausing to reflect, personal challenges and design decisions the course is in reality a lot longer. It’s basically the second course above but focused on 2D.
